This year's CanniFest was bigger and better than that of the past, giving hope to local farmers.

Newsom Vetos Cannabis Events Bill
While Emerald Triangle cultivators struggle to keep their small farms afloat, there was light at the end of the tunnel with Assembly Bill 1111. The bill would have allowed small farmers to sell their cannabis products directly to consumers at licensed cannabis events in California. Unfortunately, Governor Newsom declined to help our local farmers. He instead vetoed the bill stating it undermines existing retailers and puts a strain on the DCC's ability to regulate and enforce compliance. Newsom suggested it be brought back next.
While cultivators and consumers appreciate having dispensaries to purchase products from,
there won't be any cannabis to purchase if farms can't turn a profit this year.
Well, Governor Newsom, I hope our local farmers are around next year. At the rate cultivators are closing their gates, the Emerald Triangle will be lucky to have a quarter of its small farms open next year.
Federal Government looking into reclassification of cannabis to Schedule III.
The reclassification will pave the way to cannabis being accepted for medical use. Regulation would come from the FDA and be enforced by the DEA. Individual states would continue to have jurisdiction over recreational cannabis industries.
Top Products on the Market:
Flower is still the most popular product on the market, while concentrates and edibles fill the second and third spots. Pre-rolled joints, however, are finding a steady spot as well. Consumers are enjoying the ease of the "grab and smoke" offered by pre-rolls. Jeeter pre-rolls are ranked #1 in the world.
